Process

This involves steps like Bleaching, with Hydrogen Peroxide, followed by extraction with Acetone. With Acetone, the extraction is carried out as typically done in chemical process industry. Here important step is recovery of the solvent employed i.e. Acetone. As Lecithin is not soluble in acetone, remains as sediment and separated by centrifuge. Thereafter, drying is carried out in fluid bed dryer.

The oil present is dissolved in acetone and is separated by distillation in the acetone recovery process. Oil is by product.

Lecithin granules are produced from Granulators the recovered Lecithin by Decanter process.

PC-35 and PC-10 are produced form the Lecithin thus produced. This is done by treating the Lecithin with Ethanol. The process is similar to the one where acetone was employed for extraction. Distillation recovers the Ethanol employed leaving PC-35 and PC-10.
Lyso Lecithin produced from bleached liquid Lecithin is stirred with Enzyme with 3% water and stirring at room temperature. Then the material is heated to 65-70 Degree Celsius.
